Vertex Pharmaceuticals has reported increased revenues and continued expansion of its product pipeline, while also announcing a definitive agreement to acquire Crinetics Pharmaceuticals.

For the full year 2025, Vertex stated that total revenues reached approximately $12.0 billion, representing a 9% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s cash and cash equivalents as of December 31, 2025 were about $5.085 billion. Vertex also expects non-cystic fibrosis products to generate at least $500 million in revenue during 2026.

In July 2026, Vertex announced a definitive agreement to acquire Crinetics Pharmaceuticals for around $10 billion in cash, with the transaction expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. Crinetics’ portfolio includes PALSONIFY, an FDA-approved oral therapy for acromegaly, and atumelnant, which is in Phase 3 development for congenital adrenal hyperplasia.

Vertex’s pipeline features five approved medicines for cystic fibrosis, along with ongoing programs in areas such as IgA nephropathy, primary membranous nephropathy, APOL1-mediated kidney disease, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and type 1 diabetes. The company is also developing povetacicept, a dual BAFF and APRIL inhibitor, for several indications including IgA nephropathy and generalized myasthenia gravis.

What the numbers show

  • Vertex recorded $3.3339 billion in product revenues in Q2 2026, up from $2.9440 billion in Q2 2025.
  • CASGEVY revenue reached $76 million in Q2 2026, a 151% year-over-year increase.
  • JOURNAVX revenue was $50 million in Q2 2026, more than four times the Q2 2025 figure.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration accepted Vertex’s Biologics License Application for povetacicept in IgA nephropathy, with a target action date of November 30, 2026. Vertex is also evaluating next-generation CFTR correctors, including VX-828, VX-581, and VX-272, and has completed dosing for VX-828 with results expected in the second half of 2026.

According to company statements, Vertex plans to complete enrollment in Phase 3 studies of suzetrigine for diabetic peripheral neuropathy and a Phase 2 study of VX-993 by the end of 2026. The company also expects full enrollment in the AMPLITUDE study of inaxaplin for APOL1-mediated kidney disease in the second half of 2026, with interim analysis data anticipated in early 2027.

Vertex’s recent financial results show growth in both established and newer products. CASGEVY and JOURNAVX revenues in the second quarter of 2026 demonstrated substantial sequential and year-over-year increases, reflecting the company’s ongoing focus on expanding its portfolio beyond cystic fibrosis therapies.

With the planned acquisition of Crinetics Pharmaceuticals and continued progress in its research and development programs, Vertex is positioned to further diversify its product offerings and advance treatments for a range of serious diseases.
