Chrysler Focuses on Minivan Lineup Amid Declining U.S. Sales
At a glance
- Chrysler’s U.S. sales dropped below 125,000 units in 2025
- Pacifica was the only plug-in hybrid minivan in the U.S. in 2025
- The Voyager nameplate was discontinued for the 2027 model year
Chrysler’s vehicle portfolio in early 2025 consisted solely of two minivan models, the Pacifica and the Voyager, both built on the same platform. This limited lineup came as the company’s U.S. sales continued a long-term decline.
Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, reintroduced the Voyager as a lower-priced version of the Pacifica for the 2025 model year. This move followed feedback from dealers and was intended to streamline production while offering a more affordable option to buyers.
Despite the shrinking variety in its product range, Chrysler maintained a leading position in the U.S. minivan segment. The Pacifica was the only plug-in hybrid minivan available in the country in 2025, distinguishing it from competitors.
In 2024, the Pacifica achieved over 110,000 U.S. sales, surpassing the Toyota Sienna, which sold around 84,346 units. The Pacifica continued to be the top-selling minivan in 2023, with approximately 121,000 units sold in the U.S.
What the numbers show
- Chrysler’s U.S. sales declined by about 80% from 2005 to 2025
- In Q1 2025, Chrysler sold 32,409 Pacifica units and 2,319 Voyager units
- Pacifica sales in Q1 2025 were down 2% compared to Q1 2024
- Chrysler’s total U.S. sales fell below 125,000 units in 2025
For the 2027 model year, Chrysler discontinued the Voyager nameplate and introduced a Pacifica LX trim, consolidating its lineup to a single model. This change further focused the brand’s offerings on the Pacifica platform.
The updated 2027 Pacifica was first shown on Chrysler’s Facebook page in February 2026, featuring a new front-end design with an LED light bar and an updated logo. The vehicle was then officially revealed at the New York International Auto Show in April 2026 during a Stellantis press event.
Chrysler has stated plans to expand its lineup beyond minivans in the future. According to company statements, upcoming models are expected to include a large SUV and a coupe or sedan inspired by the Halcyon concept.
Chrysler’s strategy in recent years has centered on maintaining its presence in the minivan market while preparing for future diversification. The company’s actions reflect ongoing adjustments to shifting consumer preferences and sales trends in the U.S. automotive sector.
